Bad weather forces PHL Embassy in Washington to close Tuesday

The Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. will be closed on Tuesday (US time) due to severe winter weather.

In an announcement on its website, the embassy said normal operations could resume Wednesday, Feb. 18.

"Due to severe winter weather, the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC regrets to announce that it will be closed on Tuesday, 17 February 2015. Normal operations are expected to resume on Wednesday," it said.

The US National Weather Service had issued a winter storm warning for the District of Columbia.

It said significant amounts of snow will be forecast, making travel dangerous.

NWS advised the public to only travel in an emergency, and to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicle if they need to travel. Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
