Chiz pushes for creation of OFW Department ABS-CBN News

Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero on Sunday said he will push for the creation of a new government agency which will handle the concerns of overseas Filipino workers (OFW).
Escudero also reiterated his promised at the debate's opening to allocate P100 billion for the needs of migrant workers.
He said this budget will be used to pay blood money for OFWs, establish a pension fund, finance legal assistance and repatriation programs, and hire additional employees in Philippine embassies.
He said his tandem with Senator Grace Poe will also offer OFWs "portable" health benefits under the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
