No Pinoy casualties in Japan quake –DFA

There were no Filipino casualties in the 6.5.-magnitude earthquake that shook  southern Japan on Thursday evening, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
"According to our Consulate General in Osaka, there are so far no reports of Filipino casualties in the Japan quake," said DFA Spokesperson Charles Jose in a text message on Friday.
Dozens of buildings, including old Japanese-style houses, also collapsed in the quake that caused numerous aftershocks and derailed a high-speed train on the JR Kyushu line.
Local government figures estimate that the quake left 57,000 households in the Kumamoto prefecture without water, though it asserted that none of the nuclear plants in the region were affected.
Authorities warned residents that aftershocks could last for a week.
There were 182,917 Filipinos in Japan as of 2013 based on available government data. Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
