Dagupan children’s choir wins competition in Malaysia

The Balon Dagupan Children’s Choir (BDCC) was hailed champion of the recently concluded Malaysian International Children's Choral Festival 2016, beating 15 other contenders from different Asian countries.
According to a report on Unang Balita on Monday, the group received the Shah Alam Mayor’s Award, the highest accolade in the competition held on July 16 at the Royal Theater in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.
The BDCC bested contenders from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, and India in the international chorale competition.
The chorale also bagged two other awards, the Gold Grade A Award and the Most Promising Overseas Choir with their rendition of the pieces “O Sanctissima” and “Orde-E”.
Formed in 2015, the group was organized by Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez.
The group has 22 members aged nine to 13 years old. All members are students from both public and private schools in the city.


The chorale was led by conductors Virginia Mendoza and Adolfo Mendoza.
Meanwhile, the BDCC is expected to arrive in the country on Monday morning. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/KG, GMA News
