Pinoy bands, performers gather for another night of music in Dubai

Due to the success of its previous events, Sessions DXB will have its fifth installment on Friday, in its continuing effort to promote Filipino talents in the United Arab Emirates.
Twelve bands, including groups composed of teenagers, are set to see live action at The Fridge in Dubai, according to lead promoter Ronald Galvez.
Among the bands that will perform on Friday are 3hirdParty, Twist4Good, Juana’s Pot, ‘Namo, Jarfield, Greyback, Fat Like Hippos, Sons of Asaph, No More Lies, Pearlipinas, Up The Ante, and Vidorra.
There will also be teen bands—Darc Matter, The Gravity, and Electrocats—and guests artists Zahraross, Josh, and Trixia.
What's great about the event, Galvez said, is it's for free.
"We are a non-profit organization and we just need to cover up the printing cost of the ID card, name badge, and t-shirt/uniform," the 39-year-old graphic communications manager at Al-Futtaim Group said via email
"After we got the certification from the Consulate General in Dubai, we implemented lifetime membership to all local artist and musician in the UAE with a minimal cost of AED100," he added.
Galvez, a self-described music fan, said the ID card can serve as a discount card to "some music shops and studios" in the UAE, while the name badge can serve as an access to all events and gigs of Sessions DXB.
"The t-shirt/uniform can be designed with the band’s logo as well as the Session DXB’s," he said.
Making Friday's event possible are Western Union, which shouldered the venue cost, and NiteOwl Productions, which handled the production cost.
Sessions DXB started in April 2015 but got a certification only two months ago.
"Prior to that, we have had four events at The Fridge dated April 10, August 21, December 4, 2015; and March 18, 2016," Galvez said. —KBK, GMA News
