4 Pinoys get six months for theft in Abu Dhabi

Four Filipinos were given a six-month jail sentence by Abu Dhabi's criminal court after they were foundguilty of stealing Dhs 2.5 million in November last year.
A report on 7Days.ae said the four — three Filipina housemaids and a male cohort — will be deported after serving their sentences.
A separate report on Dubai Informer stated that the crime took place while the housekeepers' employers left Abu Dhabi for a three-week vacation.
Both reports did not identify the Filipinos.
Prosecutors elaborated on the 7Days report that the main suspect, one of the maids, "planned to steal the money with the help of the two other maids who worked in the same house" along with the man.
Their employers only found out about the crime after they returned home.
An intensive search lead to the arrest of the suspects, who immediately admitted to stealing from their employers. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News

STAR / Michael Varcas MANILA, Philippines — While Chinese vessels in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) have decreased in number, they have maintained a presence in three key land features where naval and coast guard ships have intensified operations in the past seven days, according to the Philippine Navy. MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) sees social media as the main reason for the rising number of Filipinos marrying or becoming partners of foreign nationals. In 2022, the CFO recorded 6,854 marriages or partnerships with foreign nationals, a 40.1 percent increase from the 4,891 “intermarriages” recorded in 2021. “First of all, what we see in the increase in the marriage rate of Filipinos or Filipinos with foreign partners is because of social media, (that) is number one; matchings; letters, introduction of their friends,” CFO chairperson Romulo Arugay said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing yesterday.
