OFC members in Iloilo avail meat processing training from OWWA
To gain and enhance knowledge on preserving meat so that they can start a home-based livelihood project, the members of the  OFW family circle of Paloc-Bigque, Dumanggas attended the Training on Meat Processing in Tapabia Office, Brgy. Paloc-Bigque, Dumangas, Iloilo.

About thirty one members of the organization joined the one-day training, where they learned the proper way of handling and cleaning food, sanitizing materials and making Chorizo, Tocino, Molo Balls, Siomai, and Embutido as their products.

According to Mrs. Edna Homincillada, president of the organization in Dumangas, they requested the training from the regional office so that they can learn skills that can help them gain additional income and self-employment as left behind families of OFWs.

“Majority of our members were interested to join because they wanted to enhance what they already know and help their OFW relatives through simple means that they can do themselves,” Homincillada said.

Ms. Claire Pineda, an OFW beneficiary who participated in the meat processing workshop, revealed that she will immediately apply what she learned.

“After this training, I plan to cook siomai and sell them to students near the school in our barangay,” Pineda said.

The participants help each other in preparing the ingredients of the recipe they are working on.

Some of the participants, with resource speaker / trainer, Miss Faith Aragon (in yellow shirt), show off their certificates of completion and finished products.
