OFW Jakatia Pawa buried in an unmarked grave in Kuwait

Jakatia Pawa, a Filipina who convicted of murder in Kuwait and was executed last January 25, was buried in an unmarked grave, having neither candles nor flowers, according to Tuesday report on GMA News TV program "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho".
Pawa, 42, was sentenced to death by the Kuwait's Court of Cassation in 2010 for the killing of her employer's 22-year-old daughter in 2007.
Pawa repeatedly denied killing anyone.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that it had done everything it could to save Pawa. But the victim's family refused to accept "blood money" and refused to give a "tanazul", or letter of forgiveness, which could have saved Pawa from execution.
Jakatia's brother, Lt. Col. Gary Pawa, said the Philippine government was not remiss in its duty and officials had tried to help his sister. "Hindi naman pinabayaan ng gobyerno natin sa tatlong administrasyon yung kapatid ko. Full support naman ang gobyerno natin," he said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Empolyment temporary suspension in the deployment of Filipino household workers to Kuwait because of Pawa's case and the recent incident involving the death of a Filipina domestic helper named Amy Capulong Santiago.
"By statistics, again, Kuwait ang pinakamataas ang incidents ng abuses," Labor Undersecretary Dominador Say explained.
Meanwhile, the families of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who are detained or are on death row abroad called for comprehensive legal assistance for their relatives.
"Alam po namin na sila ay nangangamba sa ngayon na kung ano ang nangyari kay Jakatia Pawa ay maaaring mangyari din sa kanila," Armand Hernando, Spokesperson for the OFW-rights group Migrante said.
According to the DFA, about 3,800 OFWs are currently detained. Some 88 are on death row. — DVM, GMA News
