Church officials offer prayers for Mary Jane Veloso
Top Philippine Catholic Church officials on Thursday offered prayers for Mary Jane Veloso, the overseas Filipino worker facing execution in Indonesia for drug trafficking.
From Rome, Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle prayed that Veloso be spared from execution, Church-run Radyo Veritas reported.
Alang alang kay Hesukristong aming manunubos Amen," he said.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines also offered prayers for Veloso.
CBCP National Secretariat for Social Action Justice and Peace Chairman and Caceres Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona said he joins Social Action Center directors now taking part in an exposure program in Cambodia in praying for Veloso.
“Together with 10 Social Action Directors here in Cambodia for exposure/exchange program, we pray for Almighty God’s intervention that she in her companions be spared and that she be strong and peaceful in the face of human injustice,” he said in a text message to Radyo Veritas.
Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People head and Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos called on Filipinos to unite in prayer.
