Mary Jane Veloso's Dad, lawyers fly to Indonesia to appeal her case

Mary Jane Veloso's father, Caesar Veloso, accompanied by several lawyers, flew to Indonesia on Tuesday in a last ditch effort to save Mary Jane from execution over a  drug smuggling conviction.

This was Caesar's third visit since Mary Jane was incarcerated in 2011, GMA 7 news program "24 Oras" reported.

Though the lawyers accompanying Caesar Veloso admitted that it would be difficult to get their appeal granted, they would not give up.

Meanwhile, according to the Foreign Affairs Department, Vice President Jejomar Binay will be flying to Indonesia to also appeal for Mary Jane's life. Binay is the Presidential Adviser on OFW concerns.

The Veloso family has repeatedly claimed that Mary Jane was set-up by a recruiter named Maria Kristina Sergio, who allegedly gave Mary Jane the drug-filled suitcase she was caught with at the Yogyakarta Airport in 2011.  Rie Takumi/DVM, GMA News
