Remains of OFW killed in Libya bombing arrive in Manila, to be brought to Capiz
The remains of an overseas Filipino worker killed in a rocket explosion in Libya last March arrived in the Philippines on Saturday.
Jupiter Adrias' remains arrived in Manila Saturday afternoon and will be brought to his native Roxas City in Capiz, radio dzBB's James Agustin reported.
Last Tuesday, his family asked the government to bring his remains home. The Department of Labor and Employment assured financial assistance to his family.
Vice President Jejomar Binay's office had said Adrias' kin sought the help of the Office of the Vice President for the repatriation of Adrias' remains. Binay is concurrently presidential adviser on Overseas Filipino Workers concerns.
“The OVP coordinated with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for the repatriation and with the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) for whatever assistance they may give,” Binay said on his social media account.
He added the OVP, through its Public Assistance Division, will also help bring Adrias' remains to Capiz from Manila. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
