Veloso to children: Ipagmalaki ninyo si mama
"'Pag... namatay si Mama, dapat ipagmalaki nyo si Mama."
This was the last request of Mary Jane Veloso, the Filipina facing execution in Indonesia for a drug-related offense, to her children when they met on Saturday.
Mary Jane also asked her family to make sure her remains are not abandoned, her sister Maritess told dzBB radio Saturday afternoon.
"Ayaw niya mapariwara ang kanyang bangkay. Meron doon na walang pamilya, tinapon sa ilog ang bangkay. Gusto niya may pamilya nagbabantay," she told dzBB's Manny Vargas and Henry Herdillo.
Mary Jane on Saturday morning met with her family, including Maritess, at an island prison where she was transferred and now awaits execution.
According to Maritess, Mary Jane kissed her children when she saw them visit her. "Puro halik ang bigay sa mga bata," she said.
She recalled the children telling Mary Jane, "Mama, mahal na mahal ka namin."
In turn, Mary Jane told her children not to be ashamed of her once she is executed.
"Sabi niya, 'Mga anak, pag ako namatay, si Mama, dapat ipagmalaki nyo si Mama. Ipagmalaki nyo si Mama namatay dahil sa ginawa sa kanya ng masamang tao... si Mama namatay na malinis ang puso," she said.
"Huwag ... si Mama namatay nang may kasalanan," she added.
