DFA: No report of Pinoy aboard boat that sank off Libya
At least for now, there is no report of any Filipino aboard a boat carrying migrants that sank off the Libyan coast over the weekend.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said Sunday evening it has not received reports of any Filipino aboard the ship, radio dzBB's James Agustin reported.
Citing information from the Philippine embassy in Tripoli, the DFA said it has "not received reports of any Filipino" among the 700 feared dead.
"The victims are mostly from north African countries, per the embassy (in Tripoli)," Agustin quoted the DFA statement as saying.
Earlier reports indicated as many as 700 people were feared dead after the boat carrying migrants capsized off the Libyan coast.
