7 people nabbed in separate operations vs. illegal recruitment, estafa

Seven people have been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in separate operations for illegal recruitment and estafa.
The NBI identified the suspects as Annaliza Zoleta, Roldan Cordez, Aurora Quine, Ma. Rosario Christina Morales and Alma Lubiran, who were all arrested in an entrapment operation in Binondo, Manila on Wednesday.
According to the NBI, the suspects are allegedly engaged in the recruitment of seamen for employment in foreign vessels without the necessary authority from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
They are collecting placement or processing fees ranging from P25,000 to P80,000.
Also on Wednesday, the NBI arrested two women in Makati City over allegations that they duped 15 people into paying for applications for bogus farm and factory jobs abroad.
Suspects Phoebe Felyn Robedillo and Joeline Nicole Robedillo allegedly recruited the complainants in Davao City.
Each of the applicants were required to fly to Manila to enroll in a language school in Makati City owned by Phoebe to learn Nippongo as a condition for their employment.
The complainants were also required to shell out P15,000 as processing fee.
However, the complainants were neither deployed abroad nor enrolled in a language school.
The NBI then set up an entrapment operation against the Robedillos, who were arrested at their house/language school on  Sandico St., Barangay Tenejeros, Makati City.
All the seven suspects are expected to undergo inquest proceedings before the Department of Justice. —Virgil Lopez/KBK, GMA News
