Employer raising funds for ailing Pinay maid

A Singaporean national is raising funds to help her Filipina maid of 25 years who suffered a haemorrhagic stroke and had to come home to the Philippines for treatment and care.
Dora Sern created a Give.Asia page for Felicidad Muna Mico, 57, for the fundraising after her eldest son found the Filipina motionless in their home last October 27.

Because Mico requires the full-time care of her daughter, the fund would also cover the needs of her daughter and granddaughters for a year. The page was set up to pay for ico's medical and hospitalization fees, as well as her rehabilitation and after-care needs in the Philippines.
Mico was diagnosed at the Changi Hospital as having suffered a haemorrhagic stroke with massive bleeding in the left brain. he was flown back to the Philippines after weeks of confinement at the ICU, high dependency ward, and normal ward of the hospital.
In an interview with The New Paper, Sern said Mico was "like a second mum" to her children.
"She was so good to my family and took care of my children so well. We love her so much," she said.
For her part, Sern's youngest son, Ervine Wong, 30, said Mico "is part of my family, and she was like our second mum when our mum was busy working."
Eugene, Sern's oldest son, was supposed to serve tea to Mico at the traditional Chinese tea ceremony during his wedding, an honor usually reserved for the bride and groom's parents and relatives.
As of Thursday, the page has raised SGD 49,239, a few hundred Singaporean dollars short of their goal of SGD 49,600. —KBK, GMA News
