OFW hospitalized for over a year in Kuwait repatriated
An overseas Filipino worker hospitalized for more than a year in Kuwait has finally been repatriated, the Department of Labor and Employment said late Wednesday.
Labor Attache to Kuwait Cesar Chavez Jr. said Trinidad Villaver was brought home last week, after over a year's stay at the Al Jahra Hospital in eastern Kuwait.
“She was (bedridden) and half-paralyzed, with a tracheotomy tube. From Manila, she was brought to Davao Medical Center in Davao City where she will be... attended to medically," he said.
A news release posted on the DOLE's website said Villaver was diagnosed with meningoencephalitis, an inflammation of the meninges and the brain.
Chavez said all expenses were shouldered by Ibero Filipinos, the insurance company of her recruitment agency in the Philippines.
These included her repatriation and continued medication, he said. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
