Pinay charged in HK over daughter’s fatal plunge —report
Hong Kong authorities have charged a Filipina over the fatal fall of her 15-year-old daughter from a high-end apartment in Repulse Bay last Tuesday, Radio Television Hong Kong reported Thursday.
The Filipina, 53, was charged with neglect as well as for overstaying her visa, and is expected to appear at Eastern Magistracy on Thursday.
Her partner, a British expat, was arrested along with her last Tuesday on suspicion of ill-treatment of a child, but has posted bail, the report said.
While the RTHK report did not name the Filipina, a separate report on Hong Kong's The Standard identified her as Herminia "Grace" Cousins, 53.
She was said to have overstayed her domestic helper's permit for some 20 years.
The Standard also identified her partner as Nick Cousins, 58, managing director of an insurance broker.
On Tuesday, the couple's 15-year-old daughter plunged to her death from a luxury apartment in Repulse Bay. Her birth in Hong Kong was not registered, and she was found to have never attended school, a report of Agence France-Presse said.
Police on Wednesday said they applied for a care and protection order for the girl's 14-year-old sister.
20-year stay
Hong Kong's The Standard said the Filipina arrived in Hong Kong about 1990 to work as a domestic helper for Nick Cousins. They had a relationship in 1994. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
