Pinoys in US to fete war vets in Washington DC
Filipinos in the United States will fete Philippine war veterans with a wreath-laying and a program in Washington D.C. this week.
The Philippine embassy in Washington said the April 8 activities include a wreath-laying ceremony at the WWII Memorial at the National Mall and at the Romulo Hall of the embassy.
This week, the nation honors its war veterans by commemorating Araw ng Kagitingan, a holiday in the Philippines.
Expected to attend the wreath-laying ceremony are:
- VFW Washington Department Color Guard
- Philippine embassy personnel
- Filipino-American community of Metro DC
At the embassy, there will be a recognition of World War II veterans, some of whom are expected to attend along with their families.
