Pinay admits to toy-gun robbery attempt before UAE court —report

A Filipina on Wednesday admitted before a United Arab Emirates court her role in a botched robbery on a money exchange facility earlier this year, a UAE news site reported Thursday.

She confessed before the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court that a plastic toy gun used in the robbery try belonged to her, Khaleej Times reported.

Also, she admitted she intended to rob the establishment last March.

She was arrested. During the robbery try, she wore a veil to avoid recognition. Her plan did not work when one of the establishment's tellers pinned her to the wall.

Before the court, the suspect maintained she did not intend to hurt anyone inside the exchange, adding she resorted to the robbery try to settle her debts.

She said she bought an abaya and a veil from a shop and the toy gun from a grocery store for Dh25.

Also, she admitted she was staying in the country illegally as her visa had expired last year.

When the judge asked why she entered and left the exchange several times before trying the robbery, she said she developed cold feet.

Meanwhile, the report said the case was adjourned to May 12, when the defense will present its case.  Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
