Baldoz urges Duterte to put illegal recruiters in order of battle

Outgoing Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz on Thursday urged President-elect Rodrigo Duterte to put illegal recruiters in his "order of battle," noting his impending tough campaign against criminals.
"I just hope the next administration would include this in the priority dahil 'yung crime ang kanilang banner program," Baldoz said at a press briefing.
"Sana nasa order of battle rin nila ang illegal recruitment, hindi lang sa mga drugs at sa iba't ibang sindikato."
Baldoz also batted for the creation of an anti-illegal recruitment module that could educate would-be overseas Filipino workers on how to spot and report illegal recruitment activities to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
She said she is also hoping that the next administration, through its proposed Department of OFWs, would continue to develop their return migration policies and create jobs so overseas employment becomes voluntary.
"Parang magandang yun ang marinig ko, after I left, na tuloy-tuloy na yung return migration, hindi sa sobrang pangangailangan kundi talagang yun ang desisyon niya dahil sa kawalan ng trabaho dito kundi may iba siyang dahilan," Baldoz said.
The Department of OFWs was first proposed by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Duterte's running mate in the May 9 elections, as a means to streamline processes for OFWs.
According to Cayetano, the department will focus on welfare, training, provision of active employment opportunity search for OFWs.
Duterte, in a press briefing in May, said he is amenable to this proposal. He also vowed to address the problem on illegal recruitment, saying illegal recruiters will be treated like holdupers and kidnappers under his administration. —KBK, GMA News
