France-based Pinoy group helps kababayans learn French language

A group of Filipinos in France has made it their mission to teach fellow Filipinos the French language to help them adapt well to their new environment as well as to seek employment there.
A report by GMA News stringer Dick Villanueva said the group Calabarzon Association of France has been teaching French language to Filipinos there for a year already.
"Since 2006, it is required that Filipinos and of course all foreign people [in France] undergo French course," said Luke Angot, a volunteer professor.
He said most of their enrollees were OFWs who were applying for jobs where knowledge in basic French is a requirement. Among them were Reme Pelobello and Paris-based Lizz Cruz.
"Nag-aaral ako ng French para matutong magsalita [at] para makipag-communicate at makahanap ng magandang trabaho," said Pelobello.
"Kasi po isa po ito (French language) sa mga requirements dito sa Paris, France, na kailangan natin matuto kung maga-apply tayo ng papel at makakahanap tayo ng magandang trabaho," said Cruz.
Another OFW, Angela Olegario, who works in an agricultural company in France, said not knowing how to speak French made her first few months in the European country in 2008 very difficult.
"Noong first few months ko dito sumakit ang ulo ko, migraine talaga," she said. —KBK, GMA News
