BIFF mortar fire killed pregnant woman in Maguindanao —police

A pregnant woman was killed by a mortar fire allegedly from members of rogue Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in a town in Maguindanao province in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Citing police information, GMA News' "Unang Balita" on Wednesday reported that the pregnant woman was in her farm in General SK Pendatun town when the mortar hit and killed her.
Government troops have engaged BIFF members in clashes in the Liguasan Marsh area, where a number of the rebels' firearms and bomb-making facilities are located.
Last month troops seized BIFF's arms factory. On June 10, the military reported of the killing of 15 BIFF rebels, also in the Liguasan area.
Residents in communities around the marsh, including an estimated 10,000 in Pikit, Cotabato, have evacuated due to armed clashes between government troops and the BIFF, a splinter group from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) which is talking peace with the government. —LBG, GMA News
