OFW returning from Saudi in hot water for ‘bomb joke’

A RETURNING overseas Filipino worker was arrested Friday morning upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from Saudi Arabia on board Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR665 for cracking a bomb joke.
PAL flight stewardess Marissa Galvez identified the suspect as Alvin Malimban, 44, reportedly a manager in a company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Complainant Galvez is reportedly the wife of Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Carlito Galvez.
Galvez said Malimban asked for wine during the flight back to Manila and the flight crew gave him a glass of red wine. But after a few minutes he asked for another glass of wine and got it.
For the third time, Malimban asked for wine but he was refused. The passenger went to the kitchen to look for wine.
He was prevented from getting what he wanted and later he created a scene that caught the attention of other passengers.
Malimban reportedly said “pasasabugin ko itong eroplano.”
Upon arrival at the airport, Malimban was immediately handcuffed by airport police.
At this juncture, the suspect quieted down and asked Galvez to forgive him because he allegedly just wanted to sleep early which is why he asked for shots of wine.
The wife of Malimban and his daughter also asked for forgiveness for Malimban but to no avail.
Malimban is now detained at the airport police headquarters facing charges of unjust vexation, alarm and scandal and bomb joke before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
