Saudi missile strike: No Pinoys among casualties

No Filipinos were among the casualties in a missile strike that killed three civilians in the southern city of Jizan in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday.
The DFA also condoled with Saudi Arabia over the latest incident.
Philippine authorities urged Filipino workers there to remain vigilant after another missile attack there on Sunday.
“We express our condolences with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the unfortunate loss of lives in the missile strike in Jizan,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano said.
The Secretary expressed concern over the series of missile attacks by rebels in Yemen, which, he said, have caused civilian deaths in Jizan and other parts of the Kingdom.
Consul General Edgar Badajos reported that “a projectile” was fired by rebels from Yemen that targeted Jizan, a major oil distribution center south of Jeddah that hosts an estimated 15,000 Filipino workers.
Badajos said the Consulate has been constantly reminding members of the Filipino Community to take the necessary precautions but is confident that the Saudi missile defense system could protect the Kingdom from incoming missiles.
