6 Pinoy groups clash at UAE Battle of the Bands

Six all-Filipino groups in the United Arab Emirates are set to go against each other Friday night for a battle of the bands.
The contest was part of celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, according to Rudy Parilla, segment head of the musical competition.
"This is the first Battle of the Bands for the PID (Philippine Independent Day). This new segment will add more flavor and excitement in the celebration of our kalayaan," he said.
Twenty-two bands battled during the elimination rounds held on April 21 to 22, but only six made it to the grand finals. They are:
Pearlipinas
Herbalution
TechPenz
Curious Juan
Electrocats
Primrose
"They were judged based on musicality, song choice, performance and audience impact," said Parilla, a former supply chain assistant manager of Al-Futtaim ACE LLC.
The six finalists could either perform a popular song or an original piece in English or in Filipino, Parilla said.
"The songs could be a combination ng OPM, foreign covers, or originals. There's no restriction sa songs," he said. "Either Tagalog or English to be fair sa mga banda na lumaki dito sa UAE na hirap sa ibang Tagalog words." —KBK, GMA News
