Duterte may raise Mary Jane Veloso’s case with Indonesia’s Joko Widodo

President Rodrigo Duterte has indicated that he would raise the case of convicted drug trafficker Mary Jane Veloso during the state visit of President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Friday.
“It will be an opportune time to discuss it during the restricted meeting,” Duterte told reporters in Malacañang after giving his joint statement with Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on Thursday.
Duterte said that raising Veloso’s case would depend on Jokowi’s response, if he allows talking about it.
Veloso is on death row in Indonesia.
“’Pwede ba itong pag-usapan?’ Eh kung ang sagot niya ayaw. Hindi,” he said.
Nonetheless, Duterte assured the public that they will talk about Veloso if the Indonesian leader agrees to it.
