Christmas in the air as Pinoys in Dubai, Paris attend Simbang Gabi

Despite being miles away from home, Filipino Catholics in other countries get to experience Paskong Pinoy through the traditional Simbang Gabi or night masses.

A report on GMA News TV's “Balita Pilipinas” said Filipinos and foreigners alike attended the Simbang Gabi held inside the walled compound of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

It said the attendees, garbed in formal clothes and Santa hats, lit up a giant Christmas tree made of recycled materials.

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) used their messages to loved ones, written on paper, to give the tree a personalized flair.

Filipinos also attended the Simbang Gabi held at the St. Bernadette's Church in Paris, France, almost filling up the cathedral during the ceremony celebrated by a Filipino priest.

Simbang Gabi traditionally begins and lasts for nine days before Christmas day. Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
