Road rage seen in Michigan mishap that injured Pinoy couple, son
Investigators are looking into road rage as the cause of the accident that left a Filipino couple and their son injured in Michigan on Friday last week (US time), an online report said.
Hurt in the incident were Teddy Gomez and his wife Dolora, and their son Ted, according to a December 5 report on Click On Detroit.
The report quoted Chesterfield Township policemen as saying that an 18-year-old man driving a jeep was in "some type of road rage" with the driver of another vehicle before the accident.
Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Gratiot Avenue when the jeep swerved southbound and crashed into the GMC Jimmy being driven by Teddy, the report said.
The Gomez's was on their way home from their job at Motor City Stamping when the accident happened, it added.
Elmar Stewart, Gomez's nephew, told Click On Detroit that his uncle and aunt sustained injuries requiring surgery. His cousin Ted, on the other hand, looked "pretty banged up."
He said the injury was shameful and "unnecessary," as the three had only moved to the US a year ago from the Philippines. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
