Pinoy nurses warned vs. email scams promising jobs in New South Wales

The Australian government has warned nursing graduates in the Philippines against fake job offers supposedly coming from hospitals in New South Wales.

The warning was issued by the Ministry of Health of New South Wales, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in a statement Thursday.

“A spokesperson for the NSW Health advised recipients of the email scams to disregard said emails and refrain from making payments,” the DFA said.

The emails were purportedly sent by nursing directors of St. Vincent's Hospital and Liverpool Hospital in New South Wales.

“Nurses looking for employment in Australia are further advised by NSW Health to be cautious in accepting similar job offers which require applicants to pay upfront,” the DFA said.

Meanwhile, an event on preventing human trafficking was spearheaded by the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

Attendees were taught how to differentiate human trafficking and illegal recruitment, informed on the hotline for trafficking victims, and told about the need for cooperation in tackling each "multi-dimensional, complex and unique" trafficking issue.
