Pinoys in Madrid take part in self-defense workshop
Filipinos in Spain got a refresher course on how to defend themselves from attack, following a basic self-defense workshop organized by the Philippine embassy in Madrid.
The workshop was held Dec. 5 to 12 at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, as part of its Gender and Development Program of Activities for 2014.
Spanish Association for Filipino Martial Arts president Maestro Guro Lawrence Oleriana Floresca, a Filipino-Spanish, conducted the workshop.
Oleriana is said to be "the highest representative of Modern Kali Arnis-Tapado in Spain," the embassy said.
He taught the participants basic blocking and self-defense techniques, and to use everyday objects as weapons in self-defense.
Also, he used real-life situations to show the human body's vulnerable points that can be used to deter an attacker. —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
