Ailing Pinay maid in Saudi seeks help to go home
video of an ailing overseas Filipino worker claiming she is being maltreated by her Saudi employers is going viral online, even as Saudi authorities look into the matter.
Saudi news site Arab News on Tuesday said the video clip featured a sobbing Sarrah Grace Suriaga, who said her health is deteriorating and she wants to return home.
The report quoted Ali Al-Asmari, director of Public Relations and Social Affairs in Asir, as saying the committee that handles disputes between employers and employees could examine the case.
Dr. Hadi Al-Yami, General Supervisor of the Human Rights Commission in Asir, added his department is working with relevant authorities to check the video’s credibility.
If needed, legal actions may be taken, the Arab News report quoted him as saying.
A separate Arab News post said the video showed Suriaga claiming her employer refused to give her medical assistance.
She also said she had been vomiting for six days and she had lost her appetite.
