Dance and cinema collide in ‘In Nomine Matris’

Viewers are set for an evening filled with bold theatrics and graceful movements, with critically-acclaimed indie film "In Nomine Matris" to premiere in California this December 5, 2014.

This will be made possible through the efforts of SG Productions and Fire and Ice Productions, in cooperation with Hubo Productions. GMA Pinoy TV and GMA Life TV serve as exclusive media sponsors.

"In Nomine Matris," which is Latin for “In the Name of the Mother,” tells the story of Mara Bonifacio Advento, a young dance protégé who finds herself at a crossroad after landing a spot in a dance company about to go on tour.

Portrayed by International Film Festival Manhattan and 38th New Wave Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 Best Actress Liza Diño, Mara embarks on a journey that pays homage to the joys and failures of motherhood and the Spanish influences to the Filipino culture.

Attendees will be treated to a grand flamenco performance before the film screening. The stars of In Nomine Matris will also be present to talk about the movie and interact with the Filipino community in the US.

In Nomine Matris will be screened at the Beyond the Stars Palace in Glendale, California. The stars will walk the red carpet starting 7 p.m., and the film will be shown at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20. For more information on the event, visit the SG Productions website (www.thesgproductions.com) or call (424) 232-6781. —GMA International
