Pinoy group in Korea celebrates anniversary with science seminar
Filipino student scholars in South Korea recently presided over a scientific seminar attended by more or less 40 foreign students as the culminating event of the Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea, Inc.'s (PIKO) eighth anniversary.
“We hope that his knowledge exchange will go beyond the venue of this colloquium; it may go beyond multinational borders to boost better relationship with Korea, and invigorate people-to-people exchanges between our nations," said Ronel Laranjo, PIKO president and MA student of Korea University.
Dubbed "PIKO Scientific Colloquium: Knowledge Exchange with International Students," the academic conference held last November 30 facilitated a knowledge exchange in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Technology, and Biomedicine.
Filipino professors, along with others, opened the colloquium with a plenary session revolving around multiculturalism, microbiology, and biomedical science.
PIKO members also led sessions featuring their studies on lung cancer drugs, beauty product chemical contents, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nation's response to climate change.
PIKO scholars from Chungbuk National University also presented Filipino traditional dances at the end of the event.
Foreign students who attended the event were from Canada, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, India, and Egypt. –Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
