Pinay arrested in HK for drug possession
A Filipina domestic helper was arrested in a Hong Kong airport for possession of cocaine, a television report said Friday.
At least two kilos of cocaine worth HK$2 million or P11 million were seized from the 29-year-old Filipina, according to a report on GMA News TV Live.
The cocaine was allegedly found in her shoes.
The Filipina, whose name was withheld, will face a drug trafficking complaint, the report said.
If convicted, she could be sentenced to life imprisonment and fined HK$5 million or P28 million, based on the Chinese territory's Dangerous Drugs Ordinance.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recently cautioned Filipino workers and tourists in China to be wary of accepting packages intended to be delivered to the Philippines or other transit destination, in light of a Filipino's arrest at a Chinese airport over drug-related charges.
