Antipolo establishment shut down for alleged illegal recruitment

A recruitment agency based in Rizal province has been shut down for allegedly sending Filipino workers to Japan without valid work licenses.

According to Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), charges are now being prepared against the owner and staff of Jomhadz International Corporation.

The firm's main office in Antipolo City, Rizal, and its satellite office in Paco, Manila, have been shut down by POEA and police operatives following complaints from victims, Cacdac said in a statement.

Seized during the raids were employment documents of applicants, including passports.

Cacdac said they will be used as documentary evidence for the illegal recruitment charges that the POEA will file.

The victims claimed they were asked to pay P150,000 placement fees for work at a wine factory in Japan.

Cacdac urged other victims of the firm to come forward and file complaints before the agency's Anti-Illegal Recruitment Branch. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
