PHL office in HK creates new FB page; Facebook still mum on missing old account

HONG KONG—After receiving no feedback from Facebook management over the mysterious disappearance of its official Facebook page, the Philippine Consulate General here has put up a new official Facebook account.

Philippine foreign officials in Hong Kong said Consul General Bernardita Catalla lat August 24 instructed her staff to create a new page.

The new page can be accessed through www.facebook.com/pcghk. As of September 11, the page has garnered nearly 1,900 likes, she said.

When the old Facebok page of the consulate general had gone missing in early August, it already had over 100,000 likes.

Consulate officials said they had gotten in touch with Facebook management but the consulate did not receive any feedback—save an auto-reply from the social media giant.

There are an estimated 200,000 Filipinos living and working in the territory.

Through its previous Facebook page, the consulate had been active in reminding Filipinos of various investment scams proliferating in social media. — LBG, GMA News
