“When the opportunity came to apply for a position in the Judiciary in year 2004, I proceeded to pursue it, realizing that after everything I have received, this is finally my chance to serve my country,” Fider said.

Meanwhile, Beatriz Latay, who received a Masters Degree from the University of Edinburgh, said that studying in the UK made her more confident as well as open to various ideas.

“The diversity of minds, cultures and landscape around me promoted collaborative solutions, and inspired a deeper sense of wonder and optimism for what each of us can contribute,” Latay said.

Latay said her experience in UK has greatly helped her in pursuing innovative ideas, especially as she serves as a founding member of Ayala Corporation's Innovation Group.

“These (experiences in the UK) have influenced my thought processes... as we identify game-changing opportunities and build lasting relationships with the communities we serve,” Latay said.

The award will be formally conferred on the eight Filipinos at the Great Ball event to be held at the Manila Peninsula Hotel on October 25.

The Great Ball is part of the series of events for the Philippine-British Friendship Day.
