Despite easing of tension, Pinoys in HK reminded to shun protest venues
While noting a gradual easing of tension in Hong Kong, Philippine officials reminded Filipinos there to continue avoiding venues of protests.
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong also said it will continue to monitor developments and will issue advisories accordingly.
In its advisory posted on its Facebook page late Thursday, the consulate general said the situation in protest areas had "gradually normalized."
A dialogue had been scheduled at 4 p.m. Friday between the Hong Kong government and student leaders, it said.
"Notwithstanding these positive developments, the Consulate reiterates its advice to all Filipinos in Hong Kong SAR to continue avoiding venues of protest actions," it said.
