Pinoy pilots first A380 ever to land at the NAIA
The world's largest passenger airplane, the Airbus A380, made its first landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Tuesday night, GMA 7 news program “Saksi” reported.
The landing was even more special as the the A380, an Emirates airline flight from Dubai, was piloted by Filipino captain, Franklin Desiderio.
Desiderio is the first Filipino to be certified to fly the double-decker plane.
The Emirates super jumbo jet received a water-cannon salute upon touching down at the NAIA, GMA News' "Saksi" reported.
Emirates is the first airline to use the A-380 to Manila for a commercial flight, according to aviation news site, Philippine Flight Network.
President Benigno Aquino III was at the NAIA to witness the A380's arrival. Aquino earlier inspected the NAIA, which several travel websites have billed as among the world's worst airports. — Joel Locsin/DVM/ELR, GMA News
