MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is encouraging Filipinos abroad to be on alert against the Ebola virus.
“We take note of the assurance of Saudi Arabia that they are in control in the situation there. In the US, we are confident that the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) will be able to deal with the situation and we are advising our Filipinos there to know more about the Ebola, to be informed,” said DFA spokesperson Charles Jose.
However, the DFA still has no plans of raising the alert level in West African countries of Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
As of October 3, the World Health Organization had recorded a total of 7,470 Ebola cases, including 3,431 deaths.
Liberia had the most number of cases at 3834, including 2069 deaths; followed by Sierra Leone with 2437 cases, including 623 deaths; and Guinea with 1199 cases, including 739 deaths.
