No further deferments in terminal fee integration after Nov 1 – MIAA

By November, the Manila International Airport Authority expects no more delays in the integration of the terminal fee into an airline ticket's price.

MIAA officer-in-charge Maj. Gen. Vicente Guerzon Jr. said Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya had agreed to defer the integration from Wednesday, November 1 to October 1.

But, after November 1, “[w]e expect no further deferments,” Guerzon said in a social media post.

The deferment is supposed to give affected passengers, especially those exempted from the terminal fee, more time to be familiar with the implementation.

A Tuesday report on "Unang Balita" said transportation authorities expected the deferment period to benefit those who had been exempted from paying the terminal fee.

Exempted from paying terminal fees are overseas Filipino workers, pilgrims endorsed by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, athletes endorsed by the Philippine Sports Commission, and those authorized by the Office of the President.

Also exempted are children two years old and younger.  Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
