2 Pinoys arrested in UAE for running illegal cosmetic clinic —report

Two Filipinos were arrested in the United Arab Emirates for allegedly running an illegal cosmetic clinic, a UAE news site reported Wednesday.

Police in Ajman emirate arrested the two for allegedly performing a cosmetic surgery on a person even if they are not licensed, Khaleej Times reported.

While the report withheld the names of the two, it described one as an investor and the other one as a cook's assistant. Both were referred to the Ajman Public Prosecution.

Al Nuaimiya police station head Major Gaith Al Kabbi cited a complaint from the 31-year-old Emirati victim saying one of the Filipinos injected him with a substance.

This was supposedly to remove fat from his body quickly.

But after the injection, the Emirati said he felt "severe and potentially life-threatening side effects.”

A police team conducted an undercover operation and arranged for an appointment with the two Filipinos at their Al Nuaimiya apartment.

They then obtained permission from the public prosecution to search the apartment, and did so. They found one room with medical devices and cosmetics.

Another room was found to have a surgical bed. Police confiscated all the equipment and closed the apartment. Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
