Close to 6,000 Pinoys already repatriated from Syria –DFA

Twenty-eight more Filipinos were repatriated from Syria on Wednesday, bringing the total number of repatriates to 5,671 since the start of the repatriation program in 2011, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

Around 28 Filipinos arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday morning after traveling to Lebanon's Masna'a border from Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Lattakia, and Tartous on July 7.

They underwent medical check-up and pre-departure briefing prior to their travel to Manila on board Gulf Air flight GF1540, the DFA said.

Because of the continued unrest in Syria, the Philippine Embassy in Damascus urged Filipinos with relatives there to convince their loved ones to avail of the repatriation program.
