Jealousy drives OFW’s husband to stab 2 kids, take own life in Pangasinan

Jealousy drove the husband of a UAE-based overseas Filipino worker to stab his own children before taking his own life in Binmaley, Pangasinan, over the weekend.

The man got angry when he saw a photo on his wife's Facebook account showing her with another man, GMA Dagupan's Joanne Ponsoy reported Monday.

"Yung mga taga-rito, may ipinakita sa Facebook na may katabing lalaki, Arabo yata. Nakalagay doon, 'this is my new wife.' [Ang pinsan ko], dinibdib niya at nanginginig," the suspect's cousin said.

Before taking his own life, the man stabbed his two children who are now under observation at a hospital.

"Uminom ng alak, biglang sinaksak ang anak at stepson," said Inspector Cesario Fernandez, deputy police chief of Binmaley.

"May maingay sabi ng anak ko, umiiyak. Pinuntahan ko, sinilip ko sa kurtina. Doon nakita ko, nakabigti. Yung mga anak niya, duguan," said Edgar Zamora, a relative of the OFW.

Investigation showed the man started to get suspicious when his wife remitted less money from Dubai.

He also tried to convince his wife not to go back to Dubai after working there for two years, but she reportedly did not agree. —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
