Pinay maid in Saudi accuses employer of rape, physical abuse

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia - A Filipina domestic helper here has accused her employer of sexually and physically abusing her.

Nancy (not her real name) said her employer raped her last Saturday and then punched and slapped her when she kept on crying afterward.

"Habang umiiyak po ako ay sinasampal niya ako dahil gusto niya akong patigilin sa pag-iyak dahil baka daw marinig ng anak niya na natutulog, dahil pag nagising ay magsusumbong sa nanay at malalaman ng asawa niya ang ginawa nya sa akin," Nancy told GMA News in an interview.

"Pagsampal po niya sa akin ay nakarating ako sa kusina. Sinapak po niya ako dahil hindi niya po ako mapatigil sa kaiiyak," she added, showing the bruise on her right eye.

Nancy also said her employer at first did not grant her request to be brought to a hospital for treatment as her nose was bleeding and her right eye was almost shut. She said her employer only agreed to her request when she promised that she will not tell anyone regarding what happened.

It was while in hospital that Nancy was able to seek help. Her case eventually reached Bawat OFW advocacy group, which then brought it to the Philippine Consulate here.

Vice Consul Alex Estomo, head of the consulate's Assistance to National Section, immediately ordered an investigation on Nancy's case.

Estomo said the suspect has already been arrested and is currently detained.

He added they have strong evidence against the suspect and are just waiting for the results of the medico legal test on Nancy before filing a case. —Ronaldo Concha/KBK, GMA News
